Building the Shooter – and then Calculating the Feasibility of it

Todo: Decide which other mechanism to build

Yeah right, wrong order.

Anyway, back to the start. We first wondered, whether we could just mount 60mm wheels on our existing conveyor frame. So the first thing we did was to attach pillow bearings to our conveyor frame. The cube actually fit pretty well in there.

The cube fits between the wheels

We decided to drive each wheel individually. However since the sides are built slightly differently, the mount of the motor doesn’t look the same.

We tested this. The result: The cube doesn’t fly high enough.

We then wondered what gear ratio we actually need to accelerate the cubes to the required speed.

Calculations on the shooter

The result: Our motors aren’t actually strong enough to shoot the cubes using two wheels. 🙁
